Livro: Omaha Poker - Bob Ciaffone
, Março 10, 2008Pessoal, tudo bem? Terminei de ler o Omaha Poker no início desta semana, e resolvi escrever um post para dividir minhas considerações com vocês.
Nunca tinha lido um livro do Bob Ciaffone, achei a escrita dele bem simples e concisa. O livro é na verdade um livreto, com apenas 124 páginas, cobrindo Omaha High e Hi/Low (Omaha Eights or Better, ou Omaha/8) nas modalidades fixed limit e pot limit.
Um ponto muito interessante do livro é que o mesmo é muito focado no jogador de Hold’em que está pensando em conhecer melhor o Omaha. Como é exatamente o meu caso, o livro se encaixou como uma luva.
Justamente por ser curto, o livro é bem básico, mas presume que o leitor já tenha algum conhecimento de poker, especificamente de Hold’em. O autor explica, ao longo do livro, as diferenças entre os diversos estilos de Omaha e como jogar as mãos mais comuns (AAxx, Axxx com dois naipes e pelo menos duas cartas conectadas, como AJ98, o ‘double-suited double-connected’ como o JT98 com dois naipes etc.). Como o livro é feito para iniciantes em Omaha, o autor assume que as mãos marginais não devem ser jogadas, para que o jogador não se atole.
Para cada modalidade de Omaha, são apresentados alguns exemplos de mãos e a forma que o Bob Ciaffone sugere jogá-las.
Não dá proficiência no assunto, mas pra quem quer começar é uma ótima pedida. Eu mesmo já estou me aventurando em algumas mesas de cash e sit-n-go de Omaha…
